January During this month, Colorado CattleWomen (CCW) travel to Denver to the National Western Stockshow, an event that sees more than 100,000 visitors annually. There they promote beef and educate about the beef industry at two different booths. Upstairs, in the hall of education, T-Bone the talking steer, and CattleWomen volunteers visit with children and their parents about the beef industry and its contributions to society. Downstairs, in partnership with the Colorado Beef Council, CCW provide recipes and nutritional information about beef.
February In this month, members of Colorado CattleWomen attend the annual meeting of the American National CattleWomen. The President of the Colorado CattleWomen holds the position of member of the Board of Directors and other members are on the various committees: National Beef Cook-Off, Beef Ambassador, and Human Nutritional Research.
March National Agriculture Day is during the month of March. CCW joins with other agriculture groups to remind the public that agriculture is a viable part of the state's economy and to raise funds for a local food bank.
April During the month of April, CCW hosts the state legislators at lunch. Women from all across the state travel to Denver to spend the day at the capitol, visiting the floors of the House and Senate and committee meetings. The highlight of the day is visiting with the legislators over lunch to thank the legislators for their work and to discuss issues that are important to the members.
May May usually has CCW members traveling to one of the American National CattleWomen Region 5 states (Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, or Colorado) to participate in an educational fun workshop with other CattleWomen of the region. The programs include issues of ANCW, the beef industry, and the region; as well as, learning about the historical and cultural importance of the place visited.
June During June, the Colorado Cattlewomen holds their annual meeting. This is meeting is held in conjunction with the Colorado Cattlemen. Colorado CattleWomen from across the state gathers together to elect officers and conduct the business of the organization.
July It is during this month that Colorado CattleWomen members participate in the summer gathering of the American National CattleWomen.
August The Colorado CattleWomen volunteers take their energies to Pueblo to participate in the State Fair during the latter part of August. This year, The Colorado CattleWomen will be sponsoring the Mystery Basket Cooking contest.
September Colorado CattleWomen members help to serve the beef at AG Day at CSU. This is a day when the various agriculture and producer groups from across the state work together to prepare and present their items to the public. The public has a meal and then attends a football game.
October October is another month of rest for the state organization.
November During November, Colorado CattleWomen hold meeting during Winter Gathering with the Colorado Cattlemen. The purpose of these meeting are educational and to conduct the business of the organization.
CCW volunteers serve beef samples at the Holiday Food and Craft Fairs in both Denver and Colorado Springs.
December Colorado CattleWomen members spend time with their family and friends.
In addition, the various cattlewomen and cowbelle locals are participating in education, promotion, and community service within their local areas.
The Colorado CattleWomen are always looking for volunteers to help with the state level programs. Plan to volunteer. You'll work with great people, make new friends, and lean and laugh a lot.
