CattleWomen Activities through the Year

During this month, Colorado CattleWomen (CCW) travel to Denver to the National Western Stockshow, an event that sees more than 100,000 visitors annually. There they promote beef and educate about the beef industry at its booth in the Hall of Education at the National Western Stockshow complex.  Many volunteers are needed to work the booth at for those sixteen days.  The CCW provides volunteers up to $50 reimbursement towards a hotel, entry into the Stockshow, a parking pass, milage, and $10 towards food.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Julie Moore at the Beef Council or Stockshow chair Nancy Harris.

Winter Gathering The Colorado CattleWomen hold an all day meeting of eduction, fun, and looking at the direction the organization should go.  This year will be January 17 in Denver at the Crowne Plaza.

 
February
In this month, members of Colorado CattleWomen attend the annual meeting of the American National CattleWomen (ANCW). The President of the Colorado CattleWomen holds the position of member of the Board of Directors and other members are on the various committees: National Beef Cook-Off, Beef Ambassador, and Human Nutritional Research.  The ANCW meeting provides opportunity to visit Nashville, Tennessee.  All members are welcome to attend.  Check the ANCW link and go to conferences and conventions for registration information.

March
National Agriculture Day is during the month of March.  CCW holds a competition to see which locals can provide the most food to a local food bank.
April
During the month of April, CCW hosts the state legislators at a breakfast in the Capitol Building. The day begins with an informal drop in breakfast.  The legislators drop by on their way to their offices.  It is the perfect opportunity to visit with your legislator and the urban legislators.  Come join the fun and stay to visit the chambers while the legislators go about the state's business the rest of the morning, then take the opportunity to sit in on a committee meeting in the afternoon.  For more information about  attending contact Cara Weber.

May
May usually has CCW members traveling to one of the American National CattleWomen Region 5 states (Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, or Colorado) to participate in an educational fun workshop with other CattleWomen of the region. The programs include issues of ANCW, the beef industry, and the region; as well as, learning about the historical and cultural importance of the place visited.  This year, Regions 5 and 6 will be meeting in Hawaii on May 21-23.  It is the perfect time to visit Hawaii, bring your husband along and extend your stay.

June
During June, the Colorado Cattlewomen holds their annual meeting. This is meeting is held in conjunction with the Colorado Cattlemen. Colorado CattleWomen from across the state gathers together to elect officers and conduct the business of the organization.  This year the annual meetings will be held at the Ranch in Loveland.  The convention will be June 11-13 and the Colorado Livestock Association will be joining us.  A great opportunity to find out about how much we have in common with other livestock producers.

July
It is during this month that Colorado CattleWomen members participate in the summer gathering of the American National CattleWomen. This year, the last day of the month will be the day to travel to Orlando.  These national conventions are a good opportunity to meet other ranchers from across the country, have a little fun and a lot of learning.

August
The Colorado CattleWomen volunteers take their energies to Pueblo to participate in the State Fair during the latter part of August. The Colorado CattleWomen sponsor two State Fair events; August 28- the Mystery Basket Cook-Off  (Think the Iron Chef Competition with teams made up of a professional chef and a prize winning amateur chef) and August 29- the Firehouse Grill Off (Firehouses are invited to compete for a traveling trophy for grilling beef).

 

September
  AG Day at CSU. This is a day when the various agriculture and producer groups from across the state work together to prepare and present their items to the public. The public has a meal and then attends a football game.

October
October is another month of rest for the state organization.

November

CCW volunteers serve beef samples at the Holiday Food and Craft Fairs in both Denver and Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs November 11-13  Denver  November 18-20.  It's the opportunity to get all your holiday shopping done while helping beef producers develop demand for beef.

December
Colorado CattleWomen members spend time with their family and friends.

All Year Long
Locals are participating in education, promotion, and community service within their local areas.  Look for a project to help with in your area.

The Colorado CattleWomen and locals are always looking for volunteers. Plan to volunteer. You'll work with great people, make new friends, and learn and laugh a lot.
