About Papin
Alhassane "Papin" Camara was born in Guinea, West Africa. Both his parents were Susu people. His mother was a dancer, so Alhassane also followed his calling as an innate dancer. At 11 years old he joined Ballet Tayely and excelled to become a lead dancer and choreographer. Alhassane is forever grateful to his mentor, world renowned Youssouf Koumbassa, and is honored to be called Youssouf's prodigy. Alhassane Papin arrived to the States in May 2009.
About Lamine
Mohamed Lamine Bangoura is happy to join us from Guinea, West Africa. His open heart and joyful spirit will teach you more about Guinean music than his drum instruction alone. Along with his cultural knowledge, skill, and expertise as a djembe-fola (professional/master drummer), he offers a delightful learning experience that all drumming levels will enjoy. Having trained and performed professionally throughout West Africa, Lamine brings a unique and diverse perspective of West African drumming to the classroom. His composure, patience, and encouragement coupled with his spicy enthusiasm and force, creates a special learning environment for traditional Guinean drumming that you don’t want to miss!
