Malé Falinke

ABOUT MALÉ: A djenbefola (master drummer) hailing from a lineage of griot/jeli (storytellers), Malé Falinke is from Khassonke region of Mali, West Africa. He originally came to the United States as a musician with Sali Sidibe, one of Mali’s greatest living vocalists. He currently is based in Albuquerque, and has been teaching music and dance master classes around the country since 2004. Like all jeli, Malé is an incredible all-around musician. He plays the djenbe, tamani (talking drum), dunun, kamele ngoni, and is an accomplished singer and dancer. He also performs with several New Mexico bands.
