PROGRAMS

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AND FOOD BANK PROGRAM

  • Food Banks
The food banks in Steamboat, Oak Creek and Hayden are the point of contact for all Lift-Up emergency assistance programs. Well over $100,000 worth of food items and personal products is given out annually through the emergency food program.

  • USDA Food Commodities
Lift-Up is the designated Routt County organization for distribution of The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provided by the USDA.

  • Community Care Fund
This is the oldest Lift-Up program and is used solely to assist non-local or “transient” clients with emergency needs. This help is available 24 hours a day through a gracious partnership with local law enforcement agencies throughout Routt County.

  • Special Needs Fund
The Lift-up Special Needs Fund is a general client assistance fund that can be used for a variety of needs.

  • Housing Needs Grant Fund
This once in lifetime emergency assistance helps people who meet certain criteria with a one-month rent or mortgage payment.

  • Healthcare Fund
Resources from the Healthcare Foundation for the Yampa Valley enable Lift-Up to assist those in need with a limited amount of prescription medications and medical doctors' visits.

  • Hayden Community Fund
This general assistance emergency fund is administered by Lift-Up in behalf of the West Routt community that provides the resources. Hayden residents with an eligible need can be helped with this fund.

  • Energy Outreach Colorado
This assistance for heating utility bills is made possible entirely by grants from Energy Outreach Colorado. Applying for LEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) is a prerequisite, but the EOC funds are available from Lift-up year-round.

  • Salvation Army of Routt County
Although a separate entity, Lift-up administers the Salvation Army funds for Routt County residents in behalf of the local Salvation Army Extension Committee. Available for general emergency needs, these funds come entirely from holiday bell ringing.

COMMUNITY THRIFT STORE PROGRAM

The Lift-Up Thrift Store program serves a multitude of purposes: vouchers for clothing and household goods are provided through the food banks or other local agencies; low-cost quality items for purchase by persons of all economic levels; a way for the entire community to recycle gently used items for a tax deduction; a way for Lift-Up to fund a significant portion of the food bank programs.
