The Hayden Heritage Center Museum was established in 1970 in the former Denver and Rio Grande Western Depot. The museum exhibits on the first floor include many fine artifacts and an extensive collection of photographs that record the pioneer, mining, and ranching heritage in Hayden and the Yampa Valley.
On the second floor, which originally housed the railroad agent and their family, is the Hayden Heritage Research Library that contains numerous books, manuscripts, and out of print publications on local history. The Research Library also has many genealogical resources including a searchable database linked to the museums collections including photographs, original documents, oral histories, and family files. The Library also has a bound collection of The Routt County Republican, and Hayden Valley Press newspapers.
Museum staff is happy to assist anyone in their research, if you are unable to visit the museums library in person you can contact the museum at: heritagemuseum@nctelecom.net
