Historic Designation
This is Historic Routt County's "Signature Program". HRC helps owners nominate their historic property to the Routt County, Colorado State, and/or National Registers of Historic Properties, an important step towards historic preservation and often required for grant eligibility.

BARNS, ETC...
Historic Routt County works with property owners to document and preserve their historic ranches and rural properties through cultural resource surveys, architectural drawings and site plans. HRC also provides information about preservation treatment incentives, nomination assistance, and technical support for projects.

Preservation Projects
Historic Routt County assists property owners with preservation treatments of their buildings by requesting grants to help fund rehabilitation or preservation treatments to their properties, facilitating tax credits, and providing technical support for projects.

Education and Advocacy
Historic Routt County presents and sponsors programs, workshops, and tours about Routt County historic and cultural resources; hosts an annual Preservation Month Awards Celebration; facilitates interpretation of historic sites; and provides resources and guidance for historic preservation issues and heritage tourism initiatives.

Historic Structure Assessments
Historic Routt County sponsors grant requests to the State Historical Fund for historic structure assessments, which provide information on a building's existing conditions as well as the steps and costs of preservation treatments.

About Historic Routt County
HRC was established in 1997. We work with willing property owners, a variety of public and private organizations, and dedicated volunteers to document, preserve, restore, and interpret historic buildings, structures, and sites throughout Routt County.

HRC is funded by donations, memberships, grants, and a portion of the Routt County Museum and Heritage Fund Mill Levy. We invite you to learn more about how HRC can help you preserve your historic property. Become a member today and start saving Routt County's historic buildings and cultural landscapes.
