  • Types of Information Available:

  • At this time, we have hard copies of death certificates here at the VNA office. The state is in the process of putting Death certificate information online at this time. Access is not available to the public.

  • Online applications for birth and death certificates are available for a fee from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment website.


  • Preferred Methods to Access the Information:
    Genealogists representing the registrant (person named on the certificate) or the registrant's immediate family ~ spouse, father, mother, legal representative, legal guardians, maternal and paternal grandparents, siblings or half-siblings with proof of relationship, adult children or grandchildren, stepparents with proof of marriage, adoption agency representatives, may obtain copies of records needed for their research. Appropriate notarized authorizations shall be required from the registrant or the registrant's immediate family for release of the records. Records released under this provision shall be stamped "For Genealogical Use Only". Application must be made through a Vital Statistics office and the standard fee paid.

    Restrictions on Information Access:
    Birth and Death certificates are not Public Record, so only those persons listed above may give Genealogists permission to request certificates.
