The garage was built into the house back of the house.
History
Mr. Samuel Fix was one of the first settlers to build a homestead in Yampa. He and his sister, Mandy built the house in 1890. The Fix-Bower House was originally not only a home, but it was also a hotel. At this time it was the nicest home in Yampa and titled The Amanda Fix House. Samuel and his sister also built the store to the left of the house called the Montgomery Store. In 1903 the house's name changed to The Bower House when Mr. Bower bought it from Samuel Fix. Now called the Fix-Bower House it is a private residence in the middle of the small town of Yampa.
