The Montgomery General store was once known as the A.G Bowers store and is one of the oldest operating stores in the county. Montgomery's was built in 1890 by Sam Fix for his sister Amanda, who ran the general store for 12 years. In May 1902, she sold it to A.G and Frank Bower who later sold it to Mr. Kawain, Mr. Holden, and Mr. Carmichael who sold it in 1946 to the Montgomery bothers. Joe and Mervin Montgomery ran the store until 1958. Joe's sons Floyd and Ken then owned the store in partnership. Floyd has since retired, and Ken and his wife Cyndia now own and run the store.


Montgomery's store is one story high and has a rectangular shape building with a brick foundation. It has seven rectangular windows in the facade and a gabled roof. The Montgomery's store is located on the corner of County Road 7, Main, and Moffat Ave. This building's entrance is in the middle of the facade and has a vertical paneled brown wood siding.
