Robert H. Buchanan was sheriff of Routt County in 1888 and 1889. The only other known information is that he owned 2/7 interest in Smith Ditch located north of highway #40 on what is now the Routt and Moffat County line. He purchased this land in December 1885 and in January 1889 he signed a promissory note using the land as collateral. It is not known what happened to him or where he went after this date.
