John C. Warner was elected Sheriff in November 1994 and was "sworn in" January 10, 1995. Sheriff Warner was re-elected in 1998 and again in 2002. Sheriff Warner is a former employee of the Routt County Sheriff's Office beginning in 1979 as a Detention Deputy. He also held positions of Patrol Deputy, Investigator and Patrol Sergeant. He is married to Sharon Clyncke and has three wonderful daughters, Trish, Amanda and Justine. The Clyncke family is a long time ranching family in the south Routt area. John was born in Elgin, Illinois. His family moved to Colorado when he was a young boy. John attended Routt County schools and graduated from Steamboat Springs High School.
