The Concerned Citizens group is a volunteer group originally formed to oppose the LaFarge West, Inc. special use permit for gravel extraction, including cement and asphalt plants at the More Family Ranch site since this site was designated key open space on the Routt County Master Plan. Recently, the Concerned Citizens has taken on a stronger role in the community to help preserve and protect the South Steamboat Valley.

Concerned Citizens group participates in community meetings and letter writing campaigns in order to keep the community informed. The group also works to ensure enforcement by government agencies of the community development plans, which were adopted to preserve the Steamboat Springs and Routt County communities. Additionally, the Concerned Citizens Group prepares a newsletter to keep the Routt County Community informed.
