The Amtrak train is a really fun adventure to points east or west. The Amtrak does not come to Steamboat, the closest stop is the historic train station in Granby, Co (approximately 75 miles east of Steamboat on HW 40). Granby is a small town and the train station is easy to find. Be on time but bring a book as the train is often hours late. You can call to see what time the train might arrive that day.

The train going west to Glenwood passes through 5 canyons and is quite spectacular.

The train going east takes you to downtown Denver and beyond.
