Katie Neiert is a 2009-2010 School-Based Mentor in Steamboat Springs Middle School.  This is Katie's second year in Steamboat Springs, she was a 08-09 School-Based Mentor in Soroco Middle School.  Last year she learned so much and had a great time working for Partners, which is why she is back for another year. Katie attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned a B.A. in Psychology. She is excited for this upcoming school year and hopes to use the knowledge she gains for her future working in the field of education. In her free time, Katie loves to read and practice yoga. In the winter she loves to Snowboard. She wishes everyone the best of luck this year!
 

Kyle is from Kansas originally, attended college at Kansas State University, and received a bachelor’s degree in history in May of 2005. After college he worked in aquatics, where he helped with lifeguards and taught swimming lessons. In June of 2008 he became a VISTA with RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), where he ran the youth programs and helped facilitate a mentoring program with volunteers and area students.   After his year of service, he was ready for some direct work, and discovered the School Based Mentoring position.  He is excited for this new experience and looks forward to serving the Yampa Valley area.
 

 

Megan is returning to Partners and Soroco Middle School for her second round as a School-Based Mentor! She has her B.A. in Child Development from HumboldtStateUniversity, in California. Megan has worked with youth in the residential summer camp setting, in the hospital setting, as a preschool teacher, a ropes course leader, a tutor, and as a one-on-one mentor. In her free time she likes to play with paints, explore the mountains, and read wonderful books while eating spumoni ice cream. Megan's tool belt is chalk full of experiences from last school year; she is ready for more lively times at school and with Partners!

 

 

Lindsay grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and received a B.A. in Psychology from Michigan State University.  Lindsay spent last year as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Montana where she worked with survivors of domestic violence and their children.  In her free time Lindsay loves to read, run, and listen to music.  Lindsay is very excited to be a part of the Partners team and is looking forward to getting to know the youth in RouttCounty.

 

 

 

Wes is recent graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. During his tenure at the University, he interned at a homeless service center, volunteered as a soccer coach, and was a camp counselor in Maine. A North Georgia native, Wes is new to the Steamboat Springs area as well as its weather, as he considers freezing temperatures to be around 60 degrees. He hopes to have a great year working for the Routt County school system and looks forward to meeting everyone.

 

 

Lindsey was raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania and completed her undergrad degree in 2006 at York College of Pennsylvania, earning a B.A in Behavioral Science. Lindsey’s experience with youth varies and has held various positions in social work since graduating. Lindsey is excited to be amongst the mountains and plans to stay active while in beautiful Colorado. She looks forward to this upcoming school year and hopes to gain a better understanding of the school system, interact with the students as well as build relationships and collaborate with fellow mentors. She hopes her experience as a School -Mased mentor will be beneficial in her pursuit to become a School Counselor.

 

 

Ali traveled out to Steamboat from Boyertown, Pennsylvania. She achieved her Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University. She gained experience working with the youth through various camp programs, and throughout her undergraduate years earning a degree in education. Ali feels this program will be an excellent way to connect to a healthy school environment and also connect to this wonderful sense of community that this area symbolizes. She is very grateful to have this opportunity to be a part of the Partner's family.
