"To explore, identify and work with the current housing issues and to develop recommendations for achievable housing options and potential solutions to encourage an economically diverse population that retains our sense of community."

Vision Statement:

"The majority of the people who work or worked in the Steamboat Springs area can afford to live there if they so choose."




The following is a list of Housing issues identified by this group:

  • Local average wages do not equal the cost of housing
  • Housing/land costs preclude the community from maintaining affordability
  • Zoning limits affordable housing opportunities
  • Lack of effective incentives to create affordable housing
  • Maintain quality neighborhoods, while increasing densities
