The Town of Hayden, population 1,643, is located 25 miles west of the resort town of Steamboat Springs in the Yampa Valley. Hayden is surrounded by many large working ranches and has a strong agricultural and mining history that continues to be a prominent aspect of our community today.

Like many communities throughout Western Colorado, Hayden is at a crossroads. Hayden has a strong “sense of self” and of its rich heritage, however, it is at risk of becoming a bedroom community for the large economic driver of Steamboat Springs. Hayden has taken the steps to be pro-active rather than re-active in the face of growth changes and launch a comprehensive planning effort.

With the support of the Gates Family Foundation, Hayden is pursuing a comprehensive plan utilizing GIS and the CommunityViz suite of planning software and a Community Video for the visioning process.

Your input on the Comprehensive Plan process is VITAL! Comment on the Community Forum OR Email comments and recommendations to Winston Associates, Inc.

For information on the Town of Hayden, including Town Board , Planning Commission and meeting agendas & minutes, visit their website at www.townofhayden.org.

The Town of Hayden hosted “Visualizing Hayden’s Future” on Monday, November 15, 2004. The evening showcased the town’s Comprehensive Plan “visualized” utilizing The Orton Family Foundation’s CommunityViz models and gathered feedback and opinions through interactive “keypad polling”. See "Planning Forum #4, Nov 15 Polling Result " for the polling results.

For additional information on the project contact the Hayden Town Manager, Russ Martin, at 970-276-3741.
