Please review some of the services that the Museum provides for our community.

A little about your Museum:
The Tread of Pioneers has been a part of this community since 1959. For the past 47 years the Museum has provided unique programs and services preserving the heritage of the Yampa Valley:
• Serves as the sole center of collection, preservation and exhibition of artifacts, documents, photographs and oral histories that reflect our community’s history
• Creates and maintains exhibits that tell the story of our heritage
• Collects and preserves written and photographic history for public research and acquisition
• Provides “Brown Bag” lectures and many other educational programs. Some of our lectures have included: Natalie Stanko “Teaching in a One Room School,” Elaine Gay “The Hard Life of the Pioneers,” John Fetcher “Ecorestoration of the Yampa River,” and Jean Wren “Myths Behind the Outlaws,” and much, much more!
• Provides staff for local committees as historic resources, i.e., Ski Heritage project, community area planning, Cultural Heritage Tourism, Main Street, etc.
• Republishes significant historic books featuring some of earliest written daily life accounts from the area, i.e., Cabin at Medicine Springs and Shining Mountains written by Steamboat’s founding family's descendent, Lulita Crawford Pritchett
• Maintains and preserves three historic buildings
• Provides curatorial support for preservation projects and archaeological research, i.e., Legacy Ranch
• Organizes special events, i.e., Pioneer Day Block Party at the Museum after the Fourth of July Parade
• Works closely with school teachers to tailor museum school tours to the state curriculum. All school children are free of charge
• Serves as the only year-round, professionally accredited museum in Routt County
