This page is the new home of information about the Steamboat Springs Community Recreation Center.

We will be publishing all of the planning, discussion, and related documents for your review, and asking for your opinions and comments on the project.

This page will grow to accomodate the project, throughout the cycle of discussion / design / construction.

The City of Steamboat Springs has engaged the services of GreenPlay LLC, a nationally renowned park and recreation consulting firm and Barker Rinker Seacat (BRS), a nationally renowned architectural firm to explore recreational needs and indoor recreational space in the Steamboat Springs community. As part of this process, the consultants will be working to identify any potential site or sites that may be appropriate for future recreation facilities.

Philosophy of Process
The recreational needs assessment process must respect and honor the hard work and dedication of past boards, committees, commissions, City Councils and our involved citizens. Master plans, resource dedication and ongoing day-to-day decisions must continue to fully utilize and follow these ideas over the long run if they are to be realized. Individual as well as special interest and political will needs to be integrated with a visionary aspect if we hope to stay out of the short-term chaos that can abound in the public process. Strategic plans, relevant surveys and timely decision making will assure that we as a community determine how we enter this next stage of community growth.
