Skilled Nursing Home

The Doak Walker Care Center replaced the former Extended Care Center when it opened on the Yampa Valley Medical Center campus in November 2000. This 59-bed skilled nursing center provides care and rehabilitation for elderly and convalescing adults.

Residents enjoy cheerful sunrooms, landscaped courtyards, an exercise/therapy room, spacious dining rooms, cozy fireplace lounges, and quality care with compassion and dignity.

Seniors Property Tax Exemption

In 2000, Colorado voters amended the Colorado Constitution and created a senior property tax exemption. For those who qualify, 50 percent of the first $200,000 of actual value of the property is exempt. This exemption is effective beginning January 1, 2002 on property taxes billed in 2003.
