Steamboat Springs at the hub of Routt County is at an altitude of 6,700 feet with adjacent mountains rising to over 10,000 feet. The alpine climate fosters four distinct seasons each with their own beauty and related activities.

Weather records have been kept for over eighty years. It is interesting to note that Steamboat Springs has the least variable weather pattern of anywhere in Colorado. During the past 20 years the coldest temperature recorded was -44 degrees (F) on February 1, 1985 and the warmest was 96 degrees (F) recorded in June 30, 1990. Snowfall ranges from 170 to 450 inches per year depending upon location. Annual precipitation in the form of snow and rain averages 25 inches. Summer is known for perfectly mild temperatures.
