The soap box derby is a gravity racing program for boys and girls ages 8 through 17 years old. This is a unique program that encourages close youth adult activities while building a race car.
The dream begins when the idea of building a car and racing a Soap Box derby car become a reality. The construction of the gravity race car reinforces the importance of setting and completing goals while developing traits such as self teaching the driver proper use of tools. The youth is encouraged to do as much of the work as his/her skill level permits. Building and racing a race car is a lot of fun and a rewarding experience for both youth and adult.
Regardless of the outcome of a race, each youth is a winner as they have shared a memorable experience with their adult.
The Soap Box Derby was on June 11 this year, 2006's Soap Box Derby date and Director is yet to be determined.
The event normally gets kicked off in early March when kids start building their cars.
