Mt. Werner and Yampa River
by Zach

This is a picture of the Yampa River with Mount Warner behind it. This is significant to me because of all the summers my buddies and I would float the Yampa. We would make homemade rafts by buying a whole bunch of smaller stuff and blow up mattresses and duct taping them together. On hot summer days we would get bored and just go jump in the river by the Rabbit Ears Motel. It was great fun. It was kind of a downer on our summers when they wouldn’t let us in the water because it was too low and the fish were dying. It was always fun to get squirt guns and hide behind the rocks along the river and squirt the tourists that were floating the river. It sounds lame I am sure but we had fun together no matter what we were doing. I thought it was cool to watch the ducks in the river since I like wildlife. It is cool to still have a place where the water is clean enough to just see wildlife in the water, that doesn’t happen everywhere.
