My major task as a citizen of Routt County is to go to school at Steamboat Springs High School. The high school has been my place of education for the past four years, and although I am very excited to leave it, I will miss it. There will never be a place quite the same as SSHS. I have learned how to balance a hectic school schedule with a fun and exciting social life. Learning everything from literature to advanced chemistry; I have survived these four years. But my high school experience has been so much more than learning from books. It has been preparing me for life after school.

I have had a choice to be what ever I wanted to be throughout my four years here. This is the advantage that the school gives you. There are not as many kids in this school, which ranges around five hundred to six hundred kids, compared to my last school; which was about three thousand to four. It’s nice to go to school here because the administration around is able to focus on every individual. I am choosing to carry on with my life and make it through college my own way. I am happy now because I will be going to Thailand for a couple of years and then open a restaurant, which will make me even happier. High school has helped me look at my options and I chose what will make me feel good.

This is a picture of Steamboat Springs High School. I have attended this school for four years. I am now a senior and I am beginning to realize that I will not be coming back here next year. I have shown a lot of pride in this school for the last four years. High school is a lot of fun and it gives you opportunities that you cannot find anywhere else at this age. The communication and the ability to make friends alone made the experience worth it. For most people, high school is the only place they will be able to venture into athletics. Everyone else cannot wait to get out of high school, but I have never thought it to be that bad. Sure I am not the best student academically but I still have fun with sports, friends, and all the interaction and adventure in teen life. Adventures like food fights at lunch, laughing in class, weekend nights, and dances like homecoming and prom. I will go on to other things but I will be a Sailor forever.
